Armenian songs, easier to find.
An Armenian song search website built around the way I work with music and prepare for church.

Why I built Armsongs
Armsongs grew out of a practical need: finding the right Armenian song when preparing music for church. Sometimes I know part of the lyrics. Other times, I remember the book, the key, or another musical detail. I wanted a website that could help with those different starting points.
This project connects my software development with the Armenian music and church community I’m part of. I understand the collection as someone who uses it, and that helps me decide what makes the search useful.
Searching the songs
Armsongs supports lyric search and more detailed searches across song attributes. You can choose a song book, browse song numbers, and narrow results using information such as key, tempo, style, song type, and time signature.
There is also an on-screen Armenian keyboard. That is a useful detail when someone wants to search Armenian lyrics from a device where typing Armenian is less convenient.
The software behind the collection
I work with the application and the song information behind it. The project involves structured song records, old and new song books, and making those details usable through a web interface.
My work on the Django application also includes running it on Linux with Gunicorn. I like being responsible for both the search experience someone sees and the backend work that keeps the application running.
Why I keep developing it
A search tool improves when it reflects how people actually look for something. With songs, that can mean a phrase, a number, or the musical details someone remembers.
Armsongs gives me a place to keep improving that experience. My related experiments in song recommendation and semantic retrieval explore other ways to find music; they are separate from the features described here.
